Flicker 40 UL Quilt Sleeping Bag

We created the Flicker to achieve maximum comfort and versatility without compromising on weight. Unzipped, it functions as a large quilt on warmer nights and is wide enough to cover two adults in a pinch. The footbox can be cinched tight and partially zipped for greater efficiency on cooler nights. At the bottom end of the temperature rating, the Flicker functions as a full center-zip mummy sleeping bag. The Flicker bags are perennial favorites of thru-hikers and ultralite hikers.

UL: Ultralight. Pertex® Endurance® 10 denier water-resistant/breathable fabric.

  • Sleeping Bag: 6' 0" / 183 cm

  • Long
  • Quilt: 7' 0" / 213 cm

When choosing a size for the Flicker, keep in mind that the overall length as a quilt is 78” for Regular, and 84" as a Long, but when converted to a center-zip sleeping bag with the footbox cinched, you lose approximately 6” of usable length.

While the regular length is designed to fit persons up to 6 foot, if you’re at the top end of the height recommendation and plan on using this primarily as a center zip bag you should consider the next length up.

Incredibly versatile go-to bag! Review by Ryan
The Flicker 40 is my bag of choice for almost any adventure that I am going on.

Lets start off by how small this can compress, thanks to the high quality down and fabrics. I am often ask, "where is your sleeping bag?" when I am out on a trip. The Flicker packs down very small and fluffs right up when taken out of the stuff sack (I use a 6L roll-top dry bag, which leaves plenty of room to roll close and compress)

Most impressive of the Flicker 40 is how versatile it is; you can have it fully unzipped and use as a quilt on warm nights, partially zipped and/or with the bottom un-cinched to allow for a little more warmth but allowing for some airflow, or fully zipped, cinched and snapped for the real cold nights. I have sept comfortably in high 20s -- I shifted all the down to the top/sides and paired with a NeoAir Xtherm -- with no problems. I also use the flicker as an under quilt on my hammock when I want to squeeze some more hammock time out in the fall, but otherwise would have been too cold to do so.

When on a long trip that spans many climates and overnight temperatures, this bag is the perfect tool for the job -- think, thru hike or long bike tour.

Great bag from a wonderful company.

One of those treasured pieces of gearReview by b
Purchased for a 10 day fall trip, was unsure about temperature needs vs. weight vs. traditional bag vs. quilt. Couldn't have been happier with how this turned out. Outstanding design and manufacture. Love the lack of a hood.

Warm night? Unzip it and you won't totally melt down. Cold night? Zip and snap and synch up, wear a hat, snug as a bug in a rug. Slept comfortably on a 30 degree night with just one layer of long underwear. Small enough that you don't mind taking it for sunrise viewing missions, and large enough unzipped to make for good couch surfing (or mid-fall, too soon/lazy to dig out the winter bedding) bedding.

Just a well made and exceptionally versatile piece of gear that makes me smile every time I pack or unpack it. Cannot recommend it highly enough. (Posted on 12/6/2016)
great bag- five starsReview by steve
This a great bag! I sleep warm and this bag fills my summer needs, have not zipped it up yet. At home I use it as a comforter- super light, warm. a very versatile bag. On the trail, packs small and warmth to weight ratio is exceptional. Excellent construction as expected from FF. (Posted on 2/2/2016)
