Great for the backcountryReview by George
You won’t find a better jacket for warmth to ounce ratio. I’ve used it in some subzero weather and found it incredibly insulating. My typical use is in the PNW on winter ski tours and overnight trips, and it really is amazing how much this packs down. While it is not cheap, the price is actually considerably cheaper in my opinion when you compare it to similar class jackets from the usual big competitors.

Things to know before buying it: it is awesome, obviously. The hand pockets are insulated, don’t require the hastle of zippers in the cold, and frankly as warm heavy mits, so that’s a huge plus. It is on the shorter end and will ride up slightly if you are trying to cover terrain in the jacket (I frankly find it too warm for wearing when I travel). When it is extremely windy, you may need some sort of facial coverage like a balaclava or buff because the hood does not have a face covering feature with Velcro like many heavier jackets. I am 70 inches, 170 pounds, and the medium fit great.

Big fan of this product (and many others from FF)! (Posted on 11/14/2018)

I have an XL Hooded Helios (5' 11", 44" chest) which fits great with layers underneath. I don't think there is a warmer jacket out there for the weight. I've looked at many down jackets, from Patagonia Fitz Roy and Grade VII to Arc'Teryx Ceres and Rab Neutrino Endurance, but it seems like FF manages to fit more down into a lighter package than the competitors. This jacket has been phenomenal from temps of ~10 degrees in Baltimore with blowing snow to summer ascents on Rainier. This thing is super. (Posted on 4/1/2018)

Just received mine in the mail and was worried it might be a little small, but was pleasantly surprised. I always were a medium and this medium fit perfectly. I could were a fleece or hoodie underneath easily. Would be a stretch to get it over a fleece and a shell but, I don't intend on using it for that. For use around camp sites in Bc Canada and around town it is going to be awesome. Thanks for making high quality gear.

This thing is incredible. I've owned mine for a few years now and use it primarily in the winter. It's great for staying warm during long days in the backcountry and stashes nicely with the included bag, keeping me toasty during low-activity times. It comes with me on most alpine trips and during shoulder-season camps on the Colorado Plateau. The Pertex fabric can be a bit fragile, I've had a few feathers poke through, but the fabric is pretty burly for its weight. The quality of construction is great, bomber stitching. I'm 5'8" 145 lbs. and the small fits me nicely. (Posted on 12/13/2017)
Very light and warm and puffs up nicely, not a micro puff to nothing jacketReview by Dan
Very nice jacket and very warm, I use it mostly for good weather, summer alpine climbing in the cascades, good compromise between features, warmth and lightness. I use it at camp and to sleep with and am much warmer, works really well with my quilt because of the down hood. From my experience with this jacket Feathered Friends are way above average in quality with their goose down gear and will buy from them again. (Posted on 6/28/2017)
Wish it was made in Women's sizesReview by Jenny
I am 5'6" 125 lbs 32C slim, straight body and ordered the Arctic in XS. I think I could wear one to two sizes smaller, but I am going to stick with it because I have read amazing reviews about performance in extreme cold. I am excited to try it out in the mountains! (Posted on 1/19/2016)
Missing one feature, otherwise its great!Review by Fred Bowers
This jacket packs a lot of warmth into little weight, and is a beautiful jacket. The only weakness is that the drawstring around the waist doesn't cinch down tightly, and is non-adjustable. This prevents the wearer from carrying gloves/hats/etc kangaroo style, as these items would be likely to slip out and fall. The jacket also lacks internal pockets to carry these items. This functionality would be well worth an extra ounce or so. (Posted on 3/6/2014)
