The vast majority of Feathered Friends down products are stored in a partially finished state at our Seattle factory. This allows us to fill the item with fresh down at the time an order is placed. Not only does this save a ton of space in our factory (down is incredibly bulky and we wouldn't want to warehouse finished products in a compressed state), it also ensures that you'll be receiving down fill that has been recently cleaned and processed. When you place an order, our production department schedules your item for completion. Depending on production demands this can take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours excluding weekends and holidays. Products that are in stock at our Seattle retail store are available to ship immediately. We make every effort to ensure that Product Availability listed online is accurate. When Will My Order Ship?

Product Availability Explained

Expected shipping durations below exclude holidays and weekends. Please remember that the availability durations do not include time in transit.

'In Stock': Items with this status should be available in-store, and we can ship it out typically within one business day, excluding holidays and weekends.

'Ships in 1 to 2 days': These items may be in stock at our store, or they may be in a nearly completed state at our Seattle factory. We make every effort to ship these items within two business days after receiving the order.

'Ships in 3 to 5 days': These are items are unlikely to be in stock at our store, but are in a partially finished stated at our Seattle factory. Quantities may be limited or the finishing process may be more involved.

'Ships in 1 to 2 weeks': Items with a one to two week ship date are in the earlier stages of production at our Seattle factory. They need to be fully sewn, filled, and inspected before we can ship these out.

'Ships in 3 to 4 weeks': These items are most likely not in-store or in our production queue. A big virtue of having a local production facility is that we can still make these items relatively quickly. These items need to be made from scratch, but the wait is well worth it!

Shipping Methods

We currently use UPS, FedEx, and the United States Postal Service (USPS) for domestic shipments. For orders shipping to PO Boxes, APOs, Alaska, and Hawaii, we use USPS exclusively. We ship internationally with USPS or DHL.

Orders that have an expedited shipping method are still subject to Availability as mentioned above - if you select UPS 3-Day Select for a product that takes 1 to 2 weeks to complete, it will still take 1 to 2 weeks to complete the order, and then we will ship via the selected method.


UPS Ground: The most economical service that we provide for the continental United States. The map below shows the approximate shipping times for locations in the United States. Please note that these times can be affected by holidays, weekends, weather, and other factors.

UPS 3 Day Select®: A more expedited method than Ground, taking three business days for most locations in the United States. This method is not really necessary for most shipments to Washington State, Oregon or northern California.

UPS 2nd Day Air®: Two business days to reach most destinations in the continental United States.

USPS Priority Mail: A quick service to much of the United States, with Saturday delivery for many areas. Necessary for PO Boxes.

USPS Express Mail: This is a next-day service to many locations in the United States. To more rural areas, it may take two business days.

International Shipping

We want everybody to be able to enjoy Feathered Friends, so we offer shipping to most countries world-wide. To offer the best balance of shipping speed and cost, we ship with the United States Postal Service, which transfers to each country's postal operator. For the fastest delivery, we also offer DHL Express for select countries across the world. We recommend that international orders be placed as far in advance of a hard-deadline as possible, just in case the customs processing takes a while. USPS Priority Mail International: For most international locations, this service takes anywhere from 5 to 10 business days. However, factors that are out of our control, such as shipping volumes and foreign customs, can add time to the shipping service.

USPS Express Mail International: The fastest service we offer for shipments leaving the United States. While some shipments may take 3 to 5 business days, foreign customs and other issues can add to the shipping duration.

DHL Express International: We are excited to offer DHL Express International for select countries across the world. This is a very fast service, reaching most destinations within 2 to 3 business days, including customs! However, remember that shipping times are not guaranteed, as other factors can affect shipping time. Please remember that all orders are subject to Product Availability as listed above.

Italy Orders: Due to very complicated and stringent import laws, we currently do not ship to Italy. We apologize for the inconvenience

A Note on International Orders: You might be assessed customs duties, tariffs, Value Added Tax (VAT). etc., depending on your country. These costs are not included in shipping charges. We are not responsible for any duties on orders. Additionally, we absolutely cannot declare lower values on customs forms or send items as "gifts." Thank you for your understanding.
