So GreatReview by Jonathan S
I've owned a Western Mountaineering -40 bag forever but once I started focusing on trekking instead of summits I needed a less extreme bag and decided to give FF a try with the Snowbunting. I've owned the bag for over 10 years and only get around to reviewing it now because on my last trip to the Andes, I borrowed a similarly-rated Marmot bag which made me realize just how much I missed my Snowbunting. Here's what I love about the bag:
1. Very easy to regulate temperature with zipper and hood/neck cinches. The zipper stays put and doesn't open as you move throughout the night, and even half-asleep, it's easy to batten down the hatches with the cinches when the temperature drops.
2. Not a huge difference between top and bottom insulation, which means that if you're an active sleeper, like me, and find the bottom of the bag on top, you probably won't wake up with chills.
3. High quality materials and down. The zipper moves smoothly and stays in place, the cinches work flawlessly, the fabric is tough outside but soft to the touch inside, but the biggest plus is the quality of the down, the amount of loft and insulation with the light weight, and the down's ability to maintain loft even after several (professional, via FF) cleanings. The high-loft down also makes the bag more packable both for weight and volume.
4. Comfortable cut. It's a tradeoff between spaciousness and ease of movement inside the bag and warmth from having a close-fitting bag. The Snowbunting gets it just right for my taste. It's neither too tight nor so roomy as to be drafty.

Downside: The temperature rating is really a "survival" rating, not a comfort rating, so be aware of that. Zero F rating means you won't freeze to death, but at that temperature, you'll want to bundle up inside with several extra layers, plus maybe a couple of hot water bottles. It's fairly comfortable with standard long underwear pajamas down to the mid or upper-20's F. Anything higher than 40 F and you'll probably be sleeping with the bag unzipped. (Posted on 8/26/2018)
Still as good as new!Review by All Seasons
I've had my Snow Bunting for 23 years, and it is still going strong. Used it in all 4 seasons. Literally it looks new even after many many nights of use. It's been washed multiple times, soaked, dries out hung over a branch, stuffed and unstuffed, used in tents, under tarps and out under the stars. It is still just as warm as ever, and has no snags or damage, no loss of loft. Unlike most bags that claim to be warm to 0 degrees, this one really is. Truly a lifetime purchase! just keeps goin' & goin'Review by elaine s
when I consider the months & months of flawless cozy comfortable nights over more than a decade of toting my Snowbunting 'round the mountains, and

when I consider the cheery customer service and completely excellent zipper repair I received this month, under warranty of all things,

that $600 or so I laid down way back then is a stark raving mad good deal.

THANK YOU FEATHERED FRIENDS, gem of a company. (Posted on 7/9/2016)
Great ProductReview by Seattle Backpacker
I bought mine 22 years ago, and it works as well today as it did in 1994. I've taken it all over the US: Cascades, Sierras, Isle Royale, Utah desert, BC, Yellowstone, Alaska, etc.. I would buy another if I needed to, but I don't think I will ever need to. (Posted on 5/23/2016)
A great winter sleeping bagReview by Tozai-Trek
After spending a lot of time comparing different products of specialized brands[...] I chose the Snowbunting EX 0. [...] In the end I used this sleeping bag for alpinism, snowshoe treks and ice climbing trips for one and a half winter season and was never disappointed nor cold. I have never felt cold compare to my previous Vaude sleeping bag and saved about 400g. It is one of the best gear I bought and a purchase that I have never regret [...]

Toasty Warm and Dry in BlizzardReview by Chris Ward
Recently spent several nights in BC backcountry for a ski trip. We had blizzard conditions and were camped close to a ridge. There was a little condensation drippage in the 4 season tent and with the 50 mph wind, tended to freeze and do a little ice flakes raining down on the bag. Perfect. This is what the Snowbunting is made for. The pertex shell resisted all moisture for several days. The bag did not get wet at all and therefore heavy with water. Inside at night I was able to get good rest as I was toasty warm, dry and super cozy. Having suffered before with super heavy and large synthetic bags or on the other hand a lighter down bag with a bivy sack or nothing, this experience was a true pleasure. Love to see things made just right.:) (Posted on 4/14/2015)
