Vireo UL Sleeping Bag

The Vireo was designed with a single purpose in mind; fast and light alpine climbs where every gram counts. With no hood, no zipper and a variable fill (the lower half is rated at 25ºF / -4ºC, the upper half 45ºF / 7ºC) the Vireo shaves every last ounce. For maximum efficiency and warmth, pair the bag with a down jacket to not only keep you cozy but also minimize extra gear and weight when it matters most.

UL: Ultralight. Pertex® Endurance® 10 denier water-resistant/breathable fabric.

Good bagReview by Dan
I use it inside a breathable SOL bivvy sack. For me it works with a down coat, down to about 32 degrees F but i am a cold sleeper. I suggest getting the the longest size as it is much better to have it long enough to pull over the shoulders. It is comfortable in useage, it is my favorite summer alpine bag in the north cascades, best bag hands down for the weight. The only thing i may change over the standard is a couple more oz of down in the torso.

Great bag, get one to use with your puffy. If you sleep cold get a heavier puffy, if you sleep hot get a lighter puffy, it is all you need for summer alpine up to early fall or late spring in the cascades.

Temp control is no problem, to cool off adjust the coat.

Great alpine bagReview by Mike
Used in the cascades. Adams and rainier . Was toasty and comfortable . Minimal stuff size really helps keep pack small (Posted on 7/15/2016)
More than sufficient for such a bare bones bagReview by Van
I've used the bag multiple times under late fall conditions in Tuolumne Meadows over a period of years when nightime temps got down to high 20's/low 30's without any issue. The first few nights, not fully trusting the bag's rating, I wore both very light down pants and jacket (the bag at 5'7" comes up to my lower shoulders) without feeling cold. Given the differential temp rating between the lower and upper parts of the bag, I found I could forego the pants thereafter, wearing just midweight thermals. The fit is tight at the bottom, slightly more roomy at the top. Finish and quality excellent. With a bivy sack, I could have tolerated lower temps without a problem. The bag compacts to such a small size that it could easily be taken as an emergency blanket substitute on bc ski trips. (Posted on 6/15/2016)
Does exactly what it's supposed to do.Review by Vern
The Vireo UL does exactly what it's supposed to do - keep you warm in moderate temperatures when combined with other warm clothing.

Last year I used this bag extensively around the Canadian Rockies including 2 nights on an icefield - This bag is so light and packs so small you don't know it's there, which is the entire point! I combined it with a NeaAir XLite sleeping pad and only wished I'd brought my 800 fill down jacket, which I forgot since it was mid summer.

I like the Vireo so much, I just ordered a Snowbunting bag for winter use. (Posted on 3/4/2016)
