Incredibly warm, light, wind resistant, and packable !!

I needed a sub-1lb packable down jacket for a recent trip to Southern Patagonia. I experienced freezing rain, snow and winds strong enough to bring me to my knees and the EOS always kept me warm. I thought I would have to wear a heavy rain coat as a wind breaker but the EOS did fine without it. It definitely got too warm whenever I had to wear rain gear over it. The ever changing weather required wearing at least 2 wool base layers and occasionally a heavy third and packing the jacket back down into the tiny provided stuff sack was a chore. I'm definitely going to try a larger sack to speed up the process. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the EOS and it just might replace my heaviest down jacket.

Compact, light, warm

No one does down like Feathered Friends. (Many backpackers know this - not the ones on the internet that want to sell you each new thing as it comes out, but the ones that buy once and stay outside.) The jacket packs up small and light, but fluffs up warm for the winter. Great for MidAtlantic to upstate NY winter nights while backpacking. Not expedition weight, nor to you want it to be.

Lightest down

This is the lightest down jacket I've owned that still provides great warmth. I've used it in the low 20s and it was comfortable. I appreciate the chest pocket as I had a hard time finding a good down jacket with one. One thing I hope future iteration of this jacket have is the ability to stuff into its own pocket instead of an external stuff sack.

Great Jacket

Very warm jacket and incredibly light and packable. Note that the chest runs a bit small so size accordingly. I am 6’3 190 pounds and order an XL. It is roomy with plenty of room around the chest. I bought a large and had to exchange it (I’m a size 42 chest)

I really wanted to like it...

After putting down jackets from Patagonia and Arc'teryx through the ringer, I wanted to support my local PNW company and try the Eos. I never leave reviews.. but I've had the jacket for about two months and feel it's time. First impression out of the box was the boxy/square fit. Normally that wouldn't bother me too much as it gives me opportunities to layer, but because the jacket doesn't have a two way zipper, I'm forced to wear it underneath my climbing harness, and the boxy fit makes for an extremely uncomfortable climbing experience. Next was the waist cinch cord. It doesn't stay cinched at all... you pull it tight and as soon as you move your legs, sit down, or stretch, it becomes lengthened again, allowing cold air to come up through the jacket. I find my self constantly cinching down the waist over and over again while climbing and hiking. Next was lack of down underneath the arm.. there is a single baffle compartment that runs from your wrist to the base of your armpit, and there is little to no down filled in there, leaving my arms and core quite cold in the wind. As pictured, you can see the loft in the baffle above the arm, but zero loft in the armpit area. Before going out on climbs I try to spread the down out throughout the bottom arm to aid this... but the reality is, I really shouldn't have to do this with a $400 jacket. Unfortunately at this premium price tag, I expect way more out of a jacket. Like a two way zipper, a waist cinch that actually works, and down that consistent through the jacket. This was my first piece of FF gear, and sadly it will likely be my last. The only reason the review is not one star is because the FF customer service was absolutely fantastic in getting the jacket to me before a climbing trip to New Zealand. They shipped a jacket from their retail floor so that it would arrive in time before I left the country. 5 stars for great customer service
