sleeping bag for your torso

Like wearing a sleeping bag, so warm. The vest feels more versatile than a jacket for temperatures from 20-60 degrees. I'm 6'1", 165 lbs and went with a large to wear over a few layers, and it fits well for that. It works great worn inside a sleeping bag to add more warmth.

Beautiful grey vest

Size small fits me well im 5’7 122lb can still fit a sweatshirt under etc if I want. Great vest very warm, zipper allows to open at bottom which seems useful for hiking tho I’ve only had it in the city thus far unfortunately

Helios Down Vest

Normally I wear Large in tops and jackets/parkas, but sizing guide recommendations for chest area had me go with an XL, and am happy with that choice. Going to XL gives me the slightly additional space I wanted for layering base and heavier mid-level under and still provide micro-environment space under it. The waist area is a little large for me in XL, using elastic instead of hem cord adjustments but is not an issue for me and, for me, enhances breathability. The hand-warmer pockets are spacious with super easy entry and exit without zippers and have down insulation outside and inside. This gives a bit of belly poof look but spectacular functionality with lots of space. This double insulation for me in this area also offsets any potential cold leakage at the slightly larger waist sizing for me. I have had a RAB Neutrino down vest for several years I still use and enjoy sized Large. It is not large enough for heavier layering. It has a single left hand main zipper (never have completely adjusted to this) vs. double US right hand conventional zipper of the Helios. The hand-warmer pockets of the RAB has zippers and external down insulation only. It has hem cord adjustability, but have not tightened in use due to tighter fit. It has been a nice piece, but the Helios Vest has approximately 25% more down fill weight and is 900+ fill power vs. the 800 fill power of my RAB making the Helios substantially warmer. I chose the Plum color and like the choice—not a bright purple. Shipment was quite prompt and includes small amber stuff sack with handle that can be attached to external back or hip pack or belt for easy access. Well done, Feathered Friends!
