Great edge-season bag
I've had this bag a couple years now, but I've been waiting to review until it had been properly tested. Now I've used this on a variety of spring, summer, and fall trips in the PNW that have ranged from warm summer days to alpine trips in windy, sub-freezing conditions. For warmth, I've found the Lark excels at edge-season trips. It's warmer than I like for most summer trips, where I prefer a slightly lighter bag like the 30 deg Swallow. In cold weather, the warmth depends a lot on your tent. With a good tent, I've been toasty warm in 20 deg weather with howling winds. But when cowboy camping without a tent, I've felt chilly in 35-40 deg weather. Especially when the wind picked up, since the bag is not wind-proof. The bag depends on loft for warmth, so it takes awhile to warm up and gets chilly if the down is compressed. If you do serious winter camping or mountaineering, I might recommend a more winter-focused bag. But this bag is plenty warm for my winter activities, especially when the draft collar is cinched up to hold in the warmth. As for fit, I'm 5'10" and 180 lb, and found that the regular size is a comfortable fit. It feels less constraining than some of the other lightweight bags I've used, and it has more foot room than I will ever need. It's not perfect - I wish it were an inch wider so I could pull my knees to my chest. (Interestingly, I found that the 30 deg Swallow is a bit roomier in this regard). I also wish it had a slightly deeper hood, but these are minor nit-picks. Overall, I find the bag is a good fit. Finally, the build quality seems great. A feather might leak out now and then, but that is normal for down gear. The Feathered Friends sleeping bags are easily the highest-quality sleeping bags I've ever had. The zipper looks very robust, but it can be a little stiff at times.
Perfect for me
I tend to be cold when I sleep so I bought the 10 degree bag for three season use. At just over 2 lbs. it saved me almost a half pound over my previous "zero degree" bag and was much warmer. I am about 5'9" and 150 lbs. and the bag was comfortably roomy for me, especially around the feet.
Perfect sleeping bag
Amazing loft and warmth. Snug as a bug but still roomy for feet, hips and shoulders.
Exceeded expectations, so warm and comfy!
Exceeded expectations, so warm and comfy but not too warm at all. I slept a few nights from 20-45 degrees in CO, and it worked perfectly in those temps and I have no worries about sleeping near 0 degrees with it. Super comfortable and luxurious feeling, and not constricting at all despite my pretty bad claustrophobia. Looking forward to many many more campouts with this lifetime 3 season bag
