The Winter Wren is a favorite of backpackers, bikepackers, and big-wall climbers alike. The zippered arm holes of the Wren series allow you to wear your bag like an uber-warm parka when you're perched 10 pitches up, and the two-way center zip provides a convenient opening to remain tied in while you sleep. Trips out of the tent in the wee hours of the morning are no longer a matter of necessity overcoming endurance; the Wren's drawcord bottom the bag can be opened up and easily slipped above the waist.

I think you can use the bottom draw cord to hold it up?

I was trying it out again (at home) to figure a way to make the bottom stay up and realized the bottom is tight so if you pull it up over your waist it will stay up (sort of) , more so if you pull the draw cord tight. If you breathe out or bend etc., the cord will loosen. Still around camp, standing this would be a big plus. I took pictures today, but was wearing shorts, pants with a belt make it work even better if you pull it up over the belt. My right hand is pulling on the draw cord. It is actually easier to pull it up inside the bag, which is great since that keeps the outer layer which is more waterproof (I think) on the outside. I added just the picture of it pulled up on the inside, I think that is clear enough. It feels like it is still almost touching the ground but the picture shows otherwise. I tried doing this lying down like you might in a tent and was able to do it, but it might not be worth it if you are taking a quick trip out and back. How well this might work for others I am not sure, esp. since I got a long, and am only 5'9". Anyway this will be a plus is some situations where I can sit on a foam pad or chair, or stand, but the real plus for me will be having my arms free, and combing a coat with a sleeping bag for space, wt. etc. I can always turn in if I get too cold. I took a picture of my other two sleeping bags, the Condor was long with extra filling for winter, but ended up taking too much space. I think it was rated for -20 when rating were for survival . The penguin is rated -10 (also for survival?). The loft looks similar, but the condor is much more, but pairing the Wren with a coat might work (I have taken a coat too when skiing). The Penguin might need a wash to restore its loft? I am not only a cold sleeper, but if I wear myself out I find afterwards my body generates even less heat at rest.

    Massive versatility

Best part IMO is how you can just use it as a walk around camp bag when you get up in the morning. Also awesome when you have to go # 1 or 2 and don't want to lose all of your body heat in doing so. It'll let you get some more sleep instead of "holding it" until morning.

Only tried it out at home so far!

FF sent me an email asking for a review, so: I have two FF sleeping bags, a coat and vest, and rented a dirty yellow coat to go to Jasper in winter(allot of people there wanted one -50). I am impressed with their products. I see the main advantage of this of combing my coat or down sleeves for sleeping and letting my arms extend away from my body as I can not sleep with them close in for long (injury from kayak overuse?), It would take less space, just as much space but let me have a coat for outside the tent. I am a cold sleeper so I will have to see how well this works for me, as this has less loft. (BTW the stuff sack is way too small) They have another product for just the lower part which might be easier to use, just on or off, but I am sure if would be too cold with just a jacket on top for me. I have done some hammock backpacking but don't see doing allot of that anymore, but this might be a plus. But my semi-rectangular bag with the zipper rotated to the top might work as well, ( or using it as cover) I am not sure about using it outside a tent as I am not sure I want to sit on it, and it hangs down too much (might put some loops with cord locks to hold it up. (Tried a belt and it worked ok.) Could work in a chair, if you don't get up often. Might be ok in snow, if it isn't wet etc. or if the outer repels it really well. This would be a plus as I would not have to turn in as early when it gets colder. 1) I got the long size by mistake, but it hangs down far more than 6". It needs some way to keep it up other holding it up? 2) Not sure about keeping it on to go to bathroom with it on the ground and the thick material?
