We offer our 0 and -10 degree sleeping bags in two fabric options.

ES Series

The ES series has a 15 denier + 40 denier ripstop weave main shell featuring a Pertex Shield waterproof-breathable coating, coupled with a lightweight Electrospun panel across the torso and midsection to enhance air permeability and vent excess moisture.

Light Series

The Light series has an ultralight 7 denier + 30 denier ripstop weave shell fabric, with a 10 denier recycled nylon lining enhanced with a heat-reflecting titanium film.

The ES bags excel at weather protection and moisture management, while the Light bags are an excellent option for drier climates and trips where weight savings is at a premium.

Built for big mountain expeditions and frigid conditions, the Ptarmigan is one of the lightest and warmest bags around. We combined the finest materials, including the cutting-edge Pertex® Shield Air fabric, and our time tested design to bring you a bag that can handle the rigors of mountaineering use and provide a warm respite at the end of a long day. 

We send more Ptarmigan sleeping bags to Denali than any other bag we make.

ES: Winter & Expedition. Pertex® Shield 15 denier with 40 denier rip-stop reinforcement fabric with water-resistant/ breathable coating with 3 Layer Pertex® Shield Air electrospun laminated fabric.

  • Mummy shape (average width) with #5 YKK two-way zipper with locking sliders
  • Pertex® Shield EX water-resistant/breathable shell with DWR with a Pertex® Shield Air electrospun panel on the top middle for added breathability
  • NetPlus® post-consumer recycled nylon interior fabric
  • Permanent collar with EX facing to prevent breath condensation from entering the bag
  • Side-block baffles maintain a 60:40 top to bottom insulation distribution
  • 3D contoured hood wraps a layer of down around your head
  • Generous draft tube prevents cold air from seeping past the zipper
  • Large side walls ensure even insulation all around
  • Overlapping dual-webbing zip guard guides the fabric away from the zipper
  • Tuck-stitch construction hides the baffle threads and prevents moisture from wicking through to the inside
  • 10" x 5" (25.4cm x 12.7cm) zippered interior pocket
  • Includes storage bag & stuff sack

Great bag with quality construction

Wonderful bag meeting our expectations ( we ordered 2) for winter camping- very high quality construction and attention to details ( 3 people involved in the making and checking) obviously ensuring the standards and tradition of FF are maintained (we have other gear for years already and it certainly is of high quality. Great company to deal with, good communication and FAST shipping internationally - took 6 days to Australia!

Submitting review after two years of use

Fantastic sleeping bag! Ultra warm bag for any winter or extreme cold. Also a perfect bag for anyone who is concerned about staying warm in cold weather. Its durable and intelligent construction with the highest quality materials is really something to experience when you have the benefit of 50+ years of using sleeping bags.
