Dimensions

The interior circumference of the Snowy Owl Sleeping Bag is measured at three points: the shoulders, around the hips, and at the feet.

SHOULDER: 64" / 163cm

We offer our 0 and -10 degree sleeping bags in two fabric options.

ES Series

The ES series has a 15 denier + 40 denier ripstop weave main shell featuring a Pertex Shield waterproof-breathable coating, coupled with a lightweight Electrospun panel across the torso and midsection to enhance air permeability and vent excess moisture.

Light Series

The Light series has an ultralight 7 denier + 30 denier ripstop weave shell fabric, with a 10 denier recycled nylon lining enhanced with a heat-reflecting titanium film.

The ES bags excel at weather protection and moisture management, while the Light bags are an excellent option for drier climates and trips where weight savings is at a premium.

The warmest sleeping bag on the planet, the Snowy Owl has been the bag of choice for polar expeditions and high-altitude climbing since its inception. Our fully contoured design maintains full and even loft of the 900+ fill down in the head and shoulder regions. A second inner zipper running parallel to the main zip keeps the differential cut at a constant thickness and guarantees a tight, even draft seal. This system also serves as a backup in the event of a zipper failure; a deadly proposition at 60 below zero. The only complaint we hear about the Snowy Owl is that “it was too warm”. Well… that’s the idea. If you’re chasing the coldest temperatures in the world, this is the bag for you.

ES: Winter & Expedition. Pertex® Shield 15 denier with 40 denier rip-stop reinforcement fabric with water-resistant/ breathable coating with 3 Layer Pertex® Shield Air electrospun laminated fabric.

  • Tuck-stitch construction hides the baffle threads and prevents moisture from wicking through to the inside

-45f Tested and Performed Great

Wonderful performance and quality of construction. Both my partner and I recently used two Snowy Owls on a cold-tent camping trip in -45 degree weather in northern Minnesota. We stayed toasty the whole night. We're both 6 feet, the "long" versions provided a couple extra inches for clothing and electronics to stay at body temp overnight. We've used these bags many times in temps as high as +20f to -45f. The double zipper gives a HUGE range of versatility. If you have any intention of sleeping in weather down to -20, it's our opinion that you can use this one bag as your entire winter quiver, no need for multiple bags to meet the traditional 20-30 degree comfort spans. Fabulous!

Unbelievably warm

This is a fantastic sleeping bag! It's size is perfect for me at 6' and 190lbs (reg length). It is so unbelievably warm though! I tend to get cold both quickly and easily when trying to sleep. This bag seems to have fixed that so far. Wrong time of year to try it in really extreme cold weather but it's seen some pretty cool temps up in Canada earlier this spring and I had to unzip it and sleep in my underwear to avoid sweating. That has certainly never happened to me before despite having some good quality down bags in the past.
