I’m finally warm

So far loving this bag so much!! I’ve used it on a couple backcountry trips now and can say that it’s kept me toasty warm. I’m one of those people that is always cold but not yet with this bag! I know it’s only summer still but summer in Canada in the mountains can get pretty cold at night. It feels like sleeping in a cloud. Packs down well however I would like to get more of a compression sack since it just comes with two bags which don’t compress. I am just over 5’9” and the larger size fits me perfectly. I wouldn’t want to be any taller in it. Well worth the price so far in my opinion.

Couldn’t be happier

So far I’ve used my 20* Egret YF on a 5-night backpacking trip in the eastern Sierras and a few nights of car camping in the mountains of Great Basin. The Sierras trip was way wetter than expected, first with thunderstorms then sustained heavy rain from Tropical Storm Hilary. One evening I got soaked and really cold trying to cook. I finally bailed and crawled in my sleeping bag, which warmed me up quickly and I was so thankful I decided to upgrade my bag before this trip. I get cold fairly easily, especially my hands and feet, and once I get cold, often struggle to warm back up again. We had some cold nights, including one or two with frost on the ground come morning, and I was warm throughout without wearing a lot of layers. I also have a Marmot 0* bag and while it’s hard to make a direct comparison, I feel like my Egret has kept me just as warm and it seems to warm me up more quickly, not to mention it’s way lighter and takes up a lot less space in my pack. I am 5’9” and was worried the size medium wouldn’t be long enough for me, but it fits perfectly. It was difficult for me to pull the trigger on such a big purchase, but after this trip I have no regrets.

Just wow.

20F in Iris. Had read a review marvelling at how much the bag lofts up on being unpacked... So I was expecting floofing to occur, but was still surprised by it. If you were cold & tired, you’d see this rising like bread in an oven, and start imagining some angel of warmth had materialised to take care of you. Beautifully made - cannot wait for it to get cool enough here to test overnight. Colour is a joy. Arrived very fast too.

Unbelieveable loft

I could not believe how much this 20F, size short bag puffed up after about 3 hours out of the box. The loft is truly amazing compared to my 25 degree Lumen youth bag from REI. It's so lofted, at first I wasn't sure it would compress enough in the bottom of my pack for all my stuff. But as I filled the pack, it seemed to compress to smaller than my old bag (which it should, according to specs). So far I've used it at 37F overnight and was toasty warm. I'm 5ft2, 113lbs. The shorter length fits me well and there's enough room to easily turn over and sleep with one knee up. There's not quite enough head coverage when using my inflatable pillow, so I slept in a beanie and tightened the head area even in warmish overnight temps, and I miss the slip-in pillow cover from my old bag. Other than that, love it so far and can't imagine choosing my old bag over this one unless it's going to be really warm overnight. And the color is fab. :0)

Great sleeping bag

This is a great sleeping bag for cool weather. I used it for a month on a cot, and like any sleeping bag you need to make sure you have something under you to insulate, since 70% of the insulation is on top of you. I had 4 layers of polyester blanket under me on the cot and I was comfortable to about 5C. A good inflatable sleeping pad would probably be better. On warner nights you can sleep with the zipper open for a bit ventilation and still be comfortable. The material is very soft and comfortable, although it’s a bit noisy, this didn’t bother me much and it’s mostly when you’re getting in and out. I absolutely love the size, I’m 5’4” and sized up. This allowed me to sleep totally inside the bag, which I like, although you have to keep a crack open or you’ll suffocate. It’s also wide enough to pull your knees up and sleep in a curled up position, and although I toss and turn quite a bit i had room to do so. It’s also really lightweight and packable, so it doesn’t take up much room in your suitcase or backpack. The best way to get it in the stuff sack is just to cram it in without trying to fold it. I needed mine right away and customer service was awesome about making sure it got to me on time. Definitely recommend!
