Gearjunkie's 5-Year Review
"In the last 5 years, I have been on a lot of camping and backpacking trips... But the Feathered Friends Flicker UL Sleeping Bag Quilt has survived all of it. And not justsurvived, but also held up impressively well and met all my expectations for performance."
Backpacking Light's Staff Pick
"After testing way too many sleeping bags, I decided that the Feathered Friends Flicker UL 20 Quilt Sleeping Bag is the most versatile and comfortable bag I’ve used in a long time."
We created the Flicker to achieve maximum comfort and versatility without compromising on weight. Unzipped, it functions as a large quilt on warmer nights and is wide enough to cover two adults in a pinch. The footbox can be cinched tight and partially zipped for greater efficiency on cooler nights. At the bottom end of the temperature rating, the Flicker functions as a full center-zip mummy sleeping bag. With 950+ fill power down and ultralight Pertex® Endurance® fabric, the Flicker series is ideally suited for those chilly summer nights in the alpine or on a thru-hike.
Available in 20 Degree, 30 Degree, and 40 Degree options.
UL: Ultralight. Pertex® Endurance® 10 denier water-resistant/breathable fabric.

Great at both extremes
I’ve had my 20 degree bag for 5 years now, mainly using it 80% as a sleeping quilt in moderate spring through fall temperatures, which it is great for. This June I went to Big Bend, TX for few days with daytime temperatures of over 100, cooling some into the night but still warm. Even with the heat, the 20 degree Flicker performed great, and I was very comfortable at night using it as a sleeping quilt. I just got back from a 2nd rifle season hunt in Colorado. Despite forecasted temperatures in the mid-20’s, the actual nighttime temperature was 14 degrees, and again the Flicker 20 performed spectacularly. Zipped up the foot box and cinched up the bag over the shoulders and slept comfortably, 6 degrees below rating. So…the bag is great at the midrange temps, but also at the extremes. Cannot speak more highly of it than that. Only advice would be to wear thick socks in the cold (I wore the thickest Woolpower socks they make) and if you are a side sleeper the center zipper doesn’t really work as a draft collar, so I got a fair bit of wetness on the sides of the bag from my breath which didn’t seem to cause any problems the next night. Highly recommend.
great bag
Super happy with it, thought I might need the wide but called the store and they advised I would be better with the regular and I am glad that is what I went with
Pre-review
1st impression is that I am impressed! However, having gotten the bag for my 2025 PCT hiking trip I will leave final review when I finish (hopefully) it.
Exactly what I needed
perfect for warmer nights and ultralight fast packing
Awesome all around
I've used a 20 Flicker for the last 3 years of alpine guiding around the US for nearly 200 nights. I've slept comfortably on Mt. Rainier, Baker, Shuksan, for a bivy on Peak 11,300 in AK, and dozens of nights throughout other locations in the Cascades and high country of Colorado. I've been warm down to the 20s and below with layering. Unzipping it keeps it useful even when the night temperatures rise to 40s-50s in mid-summer. The cut is just right for me. The shell fabric is durable and rarely leaks a feather. I love it.
