We created the Petrel to keep women warm on the coldest of three-season trips. After years of sleeping in unisex sleeping bags, the women of Feathered Friends turned their wish list into a reality with our women’s line. Featuring extra fill in the footbox and chest, more room in the elbows and knees, and shorter lengths, our women’s bags work great for anyone looking for an alternative to the traditional mummy shape. Filled with premium 900+ fill power goose down, the Petrel YF is an excellent choice for spring and fall adventures, as well as a popular summer bag for cold sleepers and high elevations.
Our YF line of sleeping bags feature a lightweight, 100% nylon Pertex® Quantum® shell that uses yarns with unique Y-shaped filaments to create a fabric with increased downproofing and water beading properties, even after years of use and washing.
YF: YFuse. Pertex Quantum® 20 denier mini-ripstop fabric treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Sheer luxurious comfort
I am 5’4”, 140 and bought a small. I have taken this bag on two backpacking trips now. I am in love with it. This time I came home and slept in it because it is so comfy and warm. The zipper on the bottom is great for letting a little air in if it’s warm and the hood and down flap kept were so snug in higher elevations. Aside from the fact that it is so well designed, it just feels like being wrapped in a warm heavenly cloud.

Exceptional Warmth
I've used this bag on a 30-day mountaineering expedition. Kept me warm on the glaciers and some windy nights bivvyed out in this bag in. I was toasty warm and very happy throughout the whole night. It packs down well and is really comfortable. I really like the cinching neck collar. the ability to keep warm air down in the bag and move around with out any of it escaping is dreamy!

Cozy and warm, but still disappointed
While the sleeping bag is warm and cozy, I'm disappointed in the overall quality and the experience I've had with Feathered Friends. - First off, this bag is TOO warm. Way too warm. I camp in the Canadian Rockies (Banff, Yoho, Jasper National Parks) so wanted a warmer bag for those cool mountain nights, but this one has me sweating like crazy and I have yet to sleep with it fully zipped up. - Because I got the -12 bag, it's also quite big and bulky and takes up 1/4 of my 60L backpack. Not ideal for backcountry camping trips when you're hiking in all your gear. I wish it packed down smaller and lighter. - When I wanted to return the sleeping bag because I realized it was way too warm and packed too big, the return process was just way too complicated for a Canadian. I'd have to pay for shipping it back, and then also pay a cleaning fee because I'd used it once and there were stains on it. - Speaking of the stains... this bag gets weird stains/spots all over it from condensation or any wetness it comes into contact with. This is so frustrating, because it's such a cute colour but after just 1 use it looks disheveled and stained. Any wet spot creates this horrible looking stain on it – and it's pretty much unavoidable. - Not a fan of the zipper either, it gets stuck and isn't super smooth. - It's expensive! So expensive. For the cost of this bag, I expected way better customer service and returns, better quality of the bag (the stains and zipper have me feeling sad), and a lighter weight and smaller volume.

obsessed
i am obsessed with this sleeping bag. it’s been on so many adventures with me and it’s held up very well. i honestly get excited to sleep in it. i get cold easily and this sleeping bag actually keeps me warm. im 5 ft and i love the small length version.

So warm and cozy
I love my new Petrel! Super warm and cozy, perfect for my upcoming winter desert trip. And the colour is gorgeous. I'm looking forward to many years with this bag.
