The perfect all around Cascade mountaineering boots for people who tend to get cold feet or want a slightly warmer than normal boot to enjoy the standard and intermediate routes to our local summits in comfort. The GORE-TEX® Insulated Comfort lining makes these warmer than typical 3-season mountaineering boots. A tough 3mm suede leather upper and full coverage rand provide excellent durability, and a Vibram® sole creates long lasting grip and traction. This boot is nicely balanced with great ankle support for kicking steps upward in the snow and plunge stepping down. The midsole stiffness provides great support and stability for snow travel, while also giving you the torsional stiffness required for edging on rock and just enough flex when frictioning is needed in slabby terrain. The soles accept most semi-automatic and strap-on crampons, and even provide adequate support when a few more technical moves are needed on steeper snow or ice to reach the top. The Manta Tech GTX is one of the most well made boots on the market to be able to handle a long Cascade approach in comfort but still provide the excellent stability and support that you want for any type of snow condition that you encounter along the way. These boots are also great for challenging winter hikes and snowshoe outings, and will likely be one of the most versatile pairs of boots that you will ever own. Use them on a day hike, or take them to the summit of Mt Rainier. These boots will just about do it all! (This is also the only boot made in this category that is available in larger sizes up to a European Size 50)

Only pair that fit!
This is my first pair of mountaineering boots, so take this review with a grain of salt. They fit! I’m a size 50 (15us) and this is the only pair of shoes I could find in my size after calling around all of Seattle. I’ve used them once since I bought them, the worked as expected, no blisters, only slightly sore feet after climbing a mountain. Compared to rentals (that don’t exist in my size) these boots appeared much more comfortable. They are a bit warm for summer climbing, but nothing uncomfortable. I want to call out the staff at feathered friends who spent a lot of time with me to find the perfect boot, make sure it fit and taught me different ways I didn’t know to tie the boot that help minimize blisters. I’m sure without that I would have had a much worse experience.
Very glad FF carries large sizes!
I had a terrible time finding boots that fit my feet, but luckily Feathered Friends had these in stock in size 49 (and size 50 too!). They fit great and worked perfectly on my climb of Mt Whitney. Another reason I keep coming back to Feathered Friends!
