Never have too many!
Love the one I have, so I bought another. One for home and one for the cabin.
Amazing, exceeded expectations. I am so warm in this vest I’m in love with it.
Where I live it’s been between -3 - 15 about a week ago for a couple weeks and it’s been a life saver
Helios - Utilitarian Vest
Used this vest for the last few weeks hunting in -10 C weather. The extra loft compared to an ultralight vest is night and day. Greater warmth at a fraction more of weight, which is really negligible. The hand warmers that other Helios Vest owners rave about is worth the hype. Such a simple concept - so effective. Works great for warning your hands or stashing gloves. U wore a bino harness over the vest and it still maintained its loft. I’m 5’7” and weigh 180 lbs, with an athletic build and the large size fits over a hoody and a wool sweater just fine. Feathered Friends in my opinion is in a class with few. Patagonia and Arc’teryx shouldn’t even be held in the same conversation with Feathered Friends, that’s not an exaggeration. Real down for real adventures. Lastly, the customer service is great and I like supporting a company that’s focused on its products and the customers wearing/using them and not caught up in the social media / corporate game.
Helios Down Vest
The quality is beyond reproach, as is typical with all of the products produced by Feathered Friends. After carefully comparing FF items with those of the exorbitantly expensive, logo laden "designer brands", FF is the overwhelming sensible choice. It is perplexing to me that the quality of the 900+ down and the lack of "feathers with quills" available in FF products is seemingly dismissed by many of those who purchase such items from the grossly more expensive brands that I routinely see being worn on the streets when I visit New York City during the colder months of the year. Obviously, to many, image exceeds careful objective analysis in such matters. Clearly, in the case of FF, pride in craftsmanship is the overwhelming dominant theme with the profit motive a distant second.
Expected more...
The outer shell is very thin, lite weight. I expected something more durable.
